John F. Howes (Jack) 81, died April 7, 2013 in Bushnell, Fl. He and his wife, Lorraine E (Cuddy) celebrated 61 years of marriage. Raised in Maynard, MA, he was the son of the late George W. Howes & Estelle D. Connors. Jacked served honorably with the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post 235, Maynard. He worked for the Bureau of Natural Resources and retired from the Town of Maynard. A former resident of Derby, VT., Acton, MA and Bushnell, FL. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and through those travels visited 48 states. Jack was predeceased by brothers George C. Howes and Albert (Tage) Howes. In addition to his wife he is survived by his brother Bill and wife Martha Howes of Berlin, MA. He leaves 7 children: Jack and wife Cindy of Shirley, Denise and husband Ray Sawyer of Acton, Edward and wife Cindy of Hudson, Janice Howes of Acton, Diane and husband Tom Cooke of Deep Run, N.C., Laura Luker of Lubbock, TX and Bill Howes and wife Cheri of Pepperell. 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish in Acton at a later date.
