Kathleen M. Walsh Obituary
A truly warm and wonderful lady It is with deep sadness we share the news that Kathleen Mary (Foley) Walsh of Maynard passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 5, 2018 in Ireland. Born in New York and raised in Galway, Ireland, Kathleen was the daughter of the late Michael and Minnie (Gleason) Foley; the beloved wife of 52 years of William Patrick of Maynard; the loving mother of William and his wife Christina of Nashua, Kathleen Marie of Maynard; the cherished grandmother of Sarah Anne; the loving sister of Mary, Ann (Bridie), Eileen, Noreen and the late John, Michael, Patrick and Theresa; the adored aunt of many nieces and nephews. Sadly missed by all family and many friends, near and far. Funeral Services were held at the Galway Cathedral. Kathleens final resting place is at Knock Cemetery in Inverin, Galway. Kathleens an explorer. From going to the US at 17 to visiting Paris a couple of years ago, Kathleens always open to visit someplace new. As a young woman she traveled with her beautiful sisters. Then she and her husband Billy traveled back and forth between the US and Ireland on cruise liners. Like her parents and her brothers and sisters, Kathleens well known work ethic allowed her to have these experiences. From painting glasshouses as a child to running households as a young woman to working at Raytheon, Kathleen was always working. With her children by her side in Inverin, Galway, Kathleen and Billy ran a B&B and a store. Going back to the US, Kathleen again managed the daily operations of large households in Boston. We dont know if a Fitbit would have been able to keep up with all the steps Kathleen took each day! Kathleen decided to swap her running shoes for walking shoes when her granddaughter Sarah came along. Now it was time to be out and about with Sarah, much of the time at malls, where Kathleen proudly strolled with her cherished granddaughter. When Sarah was about 3, she went to the mall with her parents. When they arrived at the mall, the first thing Sarah asked was Wheres Grandma? As Sarah grew up, there were nonstop adventures to places near and far. But Kathleen always made sure she had a cup of tea ready for her husband and partner Billy when he got home from work. Kathleen and Billy have an amazing partnership. We cherish the memories of them holding hands as they were walking and always chatting about everything! Both Kathleen and Billy are blessed with being warm and funny with each other, family and friends. They never have known any strangers, because any new person they meet becomes someone who is a new friend. Our world will never be the same without Kathleen, Mom, Grandma. However, our family knows Kathleen is now able to be chatting with her family and friends that she has not seen recently, and she will have a cup of tea ready for each of us someday.
