Mary A. Chambers Obituary
Mary Ann (Carley) Chambers, 95 of Maynard, MA and formerly of Waltham, MA passed away peacefully April 20, 2018 at the Acton Life Care after a long illness. Ann, as called by family and friends, was the wife of Eugene E. Chambers and they were happily married for 56 years before Gene passed away in 1997. Mary was born in Newton, MA on March 29, 1923 to the late Howard and Mary (Doherty) Carley. Ann graduated from Newton High School in 1941 and married her husband Gene shortly after. Ann cared for several family members children early in her marriage when their parents took sick. Ann and Gene moved to Maynard 1962 and raised their family there. Ann worked at Raytheon in Waltham for several years and later for Tobins Vending in Maynard. Ann also did daycare from her home for several children and it was a job she truly loved! Ann was a former Girl Scout leader for many years and she was a fan of the Red Sox and Terry Francona. In her spare time Ann liked to knit and crotchet and reading books was her passion. Ann also loved attending her childrens and grandchildrens school and sporting events. Ann is survived by two sons, Attorney Walter and Bernadette (MacDonald) Chambers of Wells, ME and Michael and Jane (Colombo) Chambers of Ashburnham, MA and a daughter Patricia Chambers of Maynard, MA. Ann also leaves her grandchildren, Thomas, Bryan, Heather, Ari (Stowell), Shaun, Ryan and Kevin Chambers and her great grandchildren, Ava, Megan, Caitlyn and River Chambers and a special niece Maureen Poly as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. In addition, Ann leaves her two feline companions Mitts and Bailey. Ann was the sister of the late Eliz- abeth (Jay) Gould, Patricia Sereno, Alice Fleet and Thomas Carley. A wake will be held Wednesday April 25th from 4-8pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave, (Rte 111) Acton, MA. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, April 26th at 10am at Saint Bridgets Church, 1 Percival St, Maynard, MA. Burial will immediately follow at St. Bridgets Cemetery, Great Rd (Rte 117) in Maynard.
