Steven F. Ballard, a lifelong resident of Maynard, died peacefully July 4, 2014 at the Emerson Hospital surrounded by his family. He was 59 years old. Mr. Ballard was born in Concord to Carl and Leona (Lankiewicz) Ballard. He was raised in Maynard and was a graduate of Maynard High School. Mr. Ballard was a machinist by trade, working in the defense and agriculture industries. Mr. Ballard truly loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, target shooting, and caring for his yard. As a devoted Patriots fan, he rarely missed a game in the fall. However, Mr. Ballard's true passion was his children and grandchildren. Mr. Ballard is survived by his two daughters, Cherie Lundberg and her husband Eric of Ashland and Kim Ballard and her fiance Walter Bahia of Maynard. Mr. Ballard was the loving grandfather of: Sarah, Eric Jr., Steven, Amanda, and Jessica. He also leaves seven siblings: Joan Ballard of Maynard, Carl Ballard and his wife Patty of Pocasset, Carlene Bell and the late Kevin Bell of Milford, NH, David Ballard and his wife Miok of Acton, John Ballard and his wife Linda of Maynard, Joseph Ballard and the late Karin Ballard of Bedford and Karen Hysaw and her husband Frank of Maynard. Mr. Ballard is also survived by a brother-in-law, Larry Prugnarola, and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Visiting hours were held on Tuesday July 8 from 4:00-8:00pm in the Acton Funeral Home 470 Massachusetts Ave. (Rte. 111) Acton. A funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday July 9 at 9:00am in St. Bridget's Church 1 Percival Street Maynard, followed by burial in St. Bridget's cemetery.
