Leonard A. Hanlon Sr.(1933 - 2013)

Leonard A. Hanlon, Sr of Athol, formerly of Medford passed away on October 1, 2013 at Heywood Hospital in Gardner with his family by his side. Born March 29, 1933 in Medford, son of the late John and Alice (Lyons) Hanlon. Lenny is survived by five children - Maureen & Kenneth Lund of Nashua, NH, Kathleen & Martin Stanton of Troy, NH, Leonard & Kara Hanlon, Jr, of Medford, Timothy Hanlon of Lemmington, VT and Colleen & Mark Anderson of Athol; a brother Hubert and Agnes Joyce Hanlon of Arlington, MA; 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Lenny was a graduate of St Clement School, Tufts University and NE School of Law. He was a proud veteran of the the United States Army. Lenny had a long career as an attorney doing a great amount of pro bono work. Lenny's passion was to help others and to that end has donated his body to the UMASS Medical School Anatomical Gift Program where, even in death, he will be able to carry on that practice. There will be a Memorial Mass at St Clement Church in Somerville on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 10:00 am. Interment will be at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to your local humane society or favorite charity in Lenny's name.
