Karen L. (Reuter) Murphy, 43, of Medford, MA, and formerly of the Town of Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on July 24, 2012, while scuba diving in Myrtle Beach, SC. Karen was born in Utica on March 9, 1969, a daughter of Fred and Patricia (McGauley) Reuter. She was a graduate of Poland Central School and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Karen was employed by the Internal Revenue Service in Stoneham, MA. On September 4, 2004, she married the love of her life, Liam Murphy, in Waltham, MA. Karen was one of this world's most beautiful people and an angel who was there for everyone. No one will be able to fill the empty spot she leaves in all our hearts. She is survived by her beloved husband, Liam, of Medford, MA; her parents, Fred and Patricia, and her sister, Barbara Reuter, all of the Town of Ohio; and her family in Massachusetts: mother-in-law, Philomene Murphy, sister-in-law, Sheila Murphy, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Brian and Michelle Murphy and their son, Cullen, sister-in-law, Kathy Walsh and Ted Chapman, and her children, Erin and Brendan Murphy. She also leaves her aunt and uncle, Mae and Paul Smith, of Rome; three cousins, Laura Martineau and George and Douglas Gleasman; and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her father-in-law, David Murphy; a brother-in-law, D. Sean Murphy; and grandparents, Fritz and Johanna Reuter and Earl and Jeanette McGauley. A memorial visitation was held at the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut St., (Rt.60, adjacent to St. Agnes Church) ARLINGTON on Sunday from 2-6 pm. Relatives and friends were invited.
