Emilio O. Roxin Obituary
Emilio O. Roxin, 90, of Mill St. in Franklin, MA, passed away Tuesday August 21st in the Milford Regional Medical Center in Milford, MA. He was the former husband of the late Gundrun Dorothea (Kappus). Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, a son of the late Emil C. and Ullranda A. (Loebel) Roxin, Mr. Roxin was a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Rhode Island from 1967 until his retirement in 1992. In 1955, Emilio met President Eisenhower as part of the National Atomic Commission and in 1957 was part of the team that built the first nuclear reactor in Argentina. Mr. Roxin was also one of the founders of Control Theory, a field in Mathematics and Engineering. Mr. Roxin is survived by his daughter Ursula Roxin-Dixon and her husband Frank of Franklin, MA; his son Walter E. Roxin of Green Hill, RI and two grandsons. Visiting hours will be held on Friday August 31st from 10:00AM-12:00PM with a Memorial Service to follow in the Forbes Funeral Home, 28 Columbia St. Wakefield. Burial will follow in Old Fernwood Cemetery, Rt. 138 Kingston, RI.
