Mrs. Jeannie Elizabeth (Elia) Schmidt 68, of Middleton, beloved wife of the late Bud Schmidt, died surrounded by her family, Wednesday morning, April 22 , 2015 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, following a brief illness. Born in Melrose, she was the daughter of the late Clement J. and Annie (Laurie) Elia. She was raised and educated in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School. Mrs. Schmidt had been employed for many years as a private caregiver. She performed healthcare services to many people at their residences for many years. She previously had been employed as a nanny to the Marsh Family for over 20 years. A resident of the Town of Middleton for the past 7 years, Jeannie was an active member of the Middleton Congregational Church. She volunteered her time with many of the churchs groups and was a member of the Christ Care group and the Womens Fellowship of the Middleton Congregational Church. She was a loving and caring person and was devoted to her family and friends. She will be deeply missed. Jeannie is survived by her daughters, Honey Rossi and her husband Paul of Melrose, Ma and Jody Cunningham and her husband Wade of Windsor, ME. Grandchildren, Shane Stephenson and Chad Gerstner of Gloucester, MA and Sam and Ben Rossi of Melrose, MA. Her siblings, Dianne Elia of Portland, OR, Rebekah Elia of Huntington, NY, Mary Ann Hermance and her husband Gregg of Malden, MA, and Douglas Elia and his wife Yuritzi of Portland, OR, several nieces and nephews, many close friends, including her dear friend Rennie Welch of Damariscotta, ME. ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to her memorial service which will be held at the Middleton Congregational Church, Maple St., Middleton, on Saturday May 9th at 11 am. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Peterson-ODonnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Jeannies memory to the Middleton Congregational Church, Maple St., Middleton, Ma 01949.
