Saro Picciotto

Obituary Condolences

Saro J. Picciotto died suddenly at Massachusetts General Hospital on Friday, June 28, 2013. He was only 53 years of age. Saro was raised in Saugus, and graduated from Saugus High School, class of 1977 and from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell with a BS in accounting class of 1981. He was the CEO at Wainwright Investment Counsel in Boston and had been employed at Wainwright for the past 31 years. He was a dedicated family man who cherished the times spent with his family and friends. Saro loved cooking, music, sports, especially football and had astounding patriotism for the United States of America. Saro had a great sense of humor, a beautiful outlook on life and also gave the world's best hugs. He loved to travel and particularly enjoyed his trips to Italy and St. Thomas. Saro's most iconic quote was that he had never lost an arm wrestle or a fight in his life, and those close to him remember those words fondly. Saro was the cherished husband of Maureen (O'Brien) Picciotto. Beloved father of Alexa R. Picciotto and James M. Picciotto both of Saugus. Devoted son of Saro & Catherine (Monahan) Picciotto of Saugus. Loving brother of Catherine Picciotto & her husband John Lyons of Sudbury and James Picciotto & his wife Nicole of Cotuit. Loving brother-in-law of Susan & Gustavo Aristizabal of Saugus. Also survived by numerous beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Saro's family, along with all his friends and those who simply had the joy of crossing paths with him, are deeply saddened and devastated by his loss. We will always miss and remember such a great man and will cherish his memory. He was a father figure to not only his children, but to all he touched in his lifetime, due to his calm demeanor, and remarkable advice. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Monday, July 8th, from 2:00-5:00PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at Bellevue Golf Club, 320 Porter St. Melrose, at 6:00PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Boston Children's Hospital, 300 Longwood Ave, Boston, MA 02115 or Massachusetts General Hospital, 55 Fruit St., Boston, MA 02114.
