Alice G. ONeill

Alice G. (McGrath) ONeill, 95, a lifelong resident of Natick, passed away April 13, 2013 at St. Patricks Manor in Framingham. She was the beloved wife of the late James G. ONeill and mother of the late Judith A. Bell and Thomas Paul ONeill. She was the sister of the late Marie Condlin, Claire Deeley, Hazel Quirk, and James McGrath. Born in Natick, the daughter of the late James and Louise McGrath, Mrs. ONeill was raised and educated in Natick where she graduated from Natick High School in 1933. She worked in Boston until marrying in 1944. For many years Mrs. ONeill helped manage the ONeill Insurance Agency in Natick alongside her husband. Always active , Mrs. ONeill played tennis and swam into her late 80s. A fan of Big Band era music, she was a life-long ballroom dancer. An avid traveler, Mrs. ONeill enjoyed numerous world-wide excursions with an extensive circle of friends. She wintered for two decades on Marco Island, FL and summered for 50 years on Popponessett Beach in Mashpee, MA. She was also extremely devoted to her Catholic faith as a daily communicant at St. Patricks Church, as president of th Legion of Mary, as a member of the Catholic Womens Club, and Rosary Club, and served on the Peace and Justice Committee. Mrs. ONeill was the mother of Susan F. ONeill of Northampton and Peter J. ONeill and his wife Nancy of Holliston. She was the grandmother of Amanda Holland-ONeill, Zachary Holland-ONeill, Sarah ONeill, M atthew ONeill and his wife Jenna. She also leaves 20 devoted nieces and nephews, including Mary Condlin Johnson of Natick, Thomas Quirk of New Mexico, William ONeill of Merrimac NH, and especially Jean McGrath Walker of Ashland, MA who provided years of faithful care and companionship. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Patricks Manor, 863 Central St. Framingham on Thursday, April 18 at 10:00A.M.. Burial followed in St. Patricks Cemetery, Natick. Arrangements were handled by the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick. Donations may be made in Alices Memory to St. Patricks Manor.
