Patricia E. Paden

Patricia Eloise Paden was born August 20, 1923 in Princeville, Illinois, the daughter of John and Mabel (Wear) Patterson. She entered into rest on January 22, 2014 at Neosho, Missouri at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 2 days. Pat spent her early childhood in Wyoming and later in Northern Missouri. She taught school for a few years, but when the country entered the war, Pat felt the call to service. She joined the Navy and served in Seattle, Washington, caring for soldiers and their families. Later, earned her teaching degree at the University of Missouri. While there, she met Charles Paden and they were married on May 24, 1949. Four children were born of this union. She continued her education at the University of Northern Colorado, receiving a Masters degree in Spanish Education. Pat worked as a teacher in many places, but her favorite was at the Carter Nursery School in Needham, Massachusetts. This nursery school was also the home of her church, Carter Memorial Methodist Church. A lifelong Methodist, Pat attended Carter Church and other Methodist churches. Pat was most recently a member of the Granby United Methodist Church. Pat is survived by her husband, Charles Paden of the home, four children; Carolyn Paden of Alexandria, VA, Alice Via of New Holland, PA, Steven Paden of Newtonia, MO, Stan Paden of St. Louis, MO and one grandchild, Noelle Via-Borda of Brooklyn, New York. Her surviving siblings are Amy King of Lexington, KY and James Patterson of Rapid City, SD. A memorial service was held for Mrs. Paden on January 29th, 2014 at the Granby Methodist Church, Granby, MO.
