Regina T. Woods Obituary
Regina T. (Cawley) Woods, of Needham, died on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the Stanley Tippet House in Needham. She was 87 years old. Regina was the daughter of William and Mary Cawley and the sister of Mary and Anne Cawley of Springfield, Massachusetts. Regina and her husband Francis were 1948 graduates of Cathedral High School, Springfield, MA. At the time of Francis death in December 2011, they had been married for 55 years. Regina and Frank lived in Cambridge, Waltham, MA, and Bedford, New Hampshire before settling in Needham in December of 1963. Regina and Frank were the proud parents of five children; Martha Winebarger and her husband Craig, of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Catherine Tilton and her husband John, and Eric Woods and his wife Sharon all of Needham. Regina was predeceased by two of her daughters, Barbara Cote of Westwood and Moira Woods of Ft. Meyers, Florida. Regina and Frank were grandparents to David Waterhouse and Alex Winebarger both of South Carolina, Catherine Winebarger of San Francisco, California, Brent Woods Williams of Ft. Meyers, Florida, Hannah Woods of Needham, Connor and Cassie Cote of Westwood and Molly and Eleanor Tilton of New York City, New York. Regina is also survived by her twin brothers-in-law Richard Woods of Sarasota, Florida and Robert Woods of Palm Desert, California, her sister-in-law Judy Woods of Dayton, Ohio and several nieces and a nephew. Mrs. Woods was a graduate of St. Elizabeths Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1952. She worked in Psychiatry, Private Duty nursing, as a nursing art instructor at Mercy Hospital in Springfield and later at Faulkner Hospital in Brighton and The Glover Hospital in Needham. A 54 year parishioner of St. Josephs Parish, Regina was a daily communicant and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a volunteer with the parish nursing ministry and Needham Red Cross Blood Drives. Regina was a member of the Secular Franciscan Order and met with the Little Brothers of St. Francis in Mission Hill monthly. Regina described herself as an avid reader and a passionate conservative. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave., Needham, on Wednesday, November 8th from 4-7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 1360 Highland Ave, Needham on Thursday, November 9th at 10 am. Interment will be private. Memorial donations can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 220 North Main Street, Natick, MA or St. Josephs Parish, 1382 Highland Ave, Needham, MA.
