William Nutting Obituary
William Cragin Nutting, 94, of North Hill, Needham, formerly a longtime resident of Wellesley, Friday, June 6, 2014. Born in Wellesley, June 5, 1920, he was the son of the late William Earnes and Mary Lillian (Hutchins) Nutting. He was the beloved husband of the late Harriet Frances (Belt) Nutting; the loving father of Rebecca Nutting Hamilton and her husband , Robert Harding Hamilton of Yarmouth, ME, David Cragin Nutting and his wife Judith Rose of Skaneateles, NY and Robert William Nutting and his wife, Donna Jeanne of Chesapeake, VA; the dear brother of Edmund W. Nutting of North Hill, Needham and the late Lincoln P. Nutting; the cherished grandfather of 6 granddaughters, one grandson, the great-grandfather of one great-grandson and the uncle of several nieces and nephews. William was raised and educated in Wellesley and held a B.S. in Accounting from Northeastern University. He served in the Army Medical Corps during WWII in North Africa and Italy. He worked as an insurance broker with his father-in-law and then with Hollis, Perrin & Black Insurance Agency in Boston. He was a life-long member of the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church where he had served in many positions including Senior Deacon. He served as a member of Toastmasters International, the Wellesley Historical Society, U.S. Power Squadron, and Rotary Club and was a longtime elected Wellesley Town Meeting member. Williams interment will be private in Woodlaw n Cemetery, Wellesley. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 21 at 11:00 a.m. at the North Hill Auditorium, 865 Central Avenue, Needham. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Williams memory to the William C. and Harriet Belt Nutting '41 Scholarship Fund at Bates College, 2 Andrews Road, Lewiston, ine 04240 Attn: Sue Michel/ Nutting Fund or the Special Music Fund at the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church, 207 Washington Street, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481.
