Adele and Family, my condolences to you from all the Rogers. We all adored him, and were in awe of his sense of humor. NOBODY could make my mom laugh like Ed. He was my window into Boston culture, my guide to Patriot's Day, and the one who introduced me to Thoreau and Walden Pond. I miss him already. Lots of love, Kenny

Edward was the best kind of brother-in-law a man could have. He made a wonderful life with my sister, whom he adored, and together they raised two fine young ladies, who now have beautiful families of their own. My father loved him like a son, and his grace and wit were always welcome in our home. He was one of the best, and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

When Ed said he was to retire from our department, I said that I would hire him over the summer. His new title would be, "Summer Student". The look on his face was priceless... and then he threw me out of his office.

My friend and mentor. A fellow BLS alumni. Class of 57. We both laughed at how we cried every night because of the amount of homework we had going home. When I was promoted in my department, Ed said to me, "I am glad a Latin boy got the job."
Goodbye Ed, my captain. Fair Winds and Following Seas, my friend. Fair Winds and Following Seas...

When I started as Director of Molecular Biology Laboratories at MGH in 1983, it was Ed who trained me, showed me the ways of the hospital, and gave me a financial grounding in the department. He was generous with his time, patient, and always of good humor. It was an honor to know him and call him a friend. He will be dearly missed but warmly remembered. Harry Orf
