John Gregory

John Gregory John Gregory John Charles (Jack) Gregory, artist, 84, died March 7, of cancer. Eldest son of John Charles and Emilie Craven Gregory, Jack attended Kenyon College and graduated from the Philadelphia Museum School of Art. In 1954 he married Jacqueline Theis, an elementary-school teacher. An abstract painter (, graphic designer and commercial artist, Jack sculpted busts of newsmakers for Time and the Playboy Jazz and Pop Hall of Fame, and his sculpture of Benny Goodman is in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery. Jack and Jackie raised their family in Philadelphia and retired to Natick, MA. He joined the Cambridge and Newton Art Associations and participated in Newton Open Studios for many years. Jackie died in October 2013. Jack is survived by his beloved daughters Mindy Gregory Sieber of Waban, MA, and Elizabeth Gregory of Houston, TX, and their families, and by his sisters Diana, Connie and Mary.
