Amelia M. Pignatelli Obituary
Amelia M. (DeFilippo) Pignatelli, formerly of Newton, died at her home in Palm Bay, Florida, on March 19, 2018, surrounded by her family. Amelia would have been 88 on March 31st. Loving and devoted wife for 67 years of Robert Pignatelli. Loving mother of Robert Pignatelli, Jr. and his wife Floriana, and Karen Pignatelli and her boyfriend J. Wesley Rawding. Loving and proud grandmother of Jamie Cashman, Leigh Chiasson, Corinne Schieffer, Cassandra Lombardo and Lisa Neal. Also survived by eight great-grandchildren. Amelia was the daughter of the late Carmine and Maria DeFilippo. She is survived by her sister Isabelle Signore. She was pre-deceased by her sister Michelina DiBartolomeo and her brothers Michael DeFilippo and John DeFilippo. Amelia was born and raised in Newton and graduated from Newton High School. She worked at Carters in Needham and Langley Pharmacy in Newton. She joined the Newton Police Department in 1973 and worked for 20 years as a Traffic Supervisor and Matron until she retired and moved to Florida. She then spent over 20 years volunteering at the Palm Bay Police Department, greeting visitors at the front desk and working as an advocate volunteer in the Victim Services Unit. A funeral mass was held at Sacred Heart Church in Newton on March 28th. Interment followed in Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline. Funeral arrangements by George F.
