Obituary Condolences

Mary (Maroney) Packenham, age 86, died peacefully at Newbury Court in Concord, MA on August 16, 2013 following a long illness. Born July 29, 1927, in Newton, MA, she lived in Auburndale, MA since childhood. She worked at Grover Cronin's Department store as Executive Secretary to Phillip Cronin and at St. Sebastian's School, in Needham, MA as Executive Secretary to Dean Morris Kittler. She was a devout communicant of Corpus Christi Catholic Church of Auburndale and a long time member of their Guild. Beloved wife of the Late John Richard Packenham. Devoted mother of Laurence and his wife Meg Packenham of Bedford and the late Richard Daniel and his wife Susan Packenham of Walpole. Dear sister of Margaret (Peg) Couch of Delaware, and the late Patricia Barton and Ned Maroney. Loving grandmother of Colin, Patrick, Olivia and Luke, all residing in the Boston Metropolitan area. Mary's greatest joys were her family, her faith and summers on the Cape where she and her husband owned and managed Wayfarers All, a cottage village in South Yarmouth. She enjoyed working and was a stout advocate of education and life long learning. Funeral from the Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, 1479 Washington St., (Rte 16), West Newton, Wednesday, August 21 at 9:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Bernard's Church, West Newton at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours Tuesday evening from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. Interment in Newton Cemetery. All attendees, family and friends are welcome to a reception following the burial at the Newton Marriott, 2345 Commonwealth Ave., Newton, MA.
