Adrienne Murray "Rara," Dyett, 87, October 9, 2013. A beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away Wednesday, after facing Alzheimer's disease with courage and dignity for 13 years. Adrienne was raised in Watertown, MA, graduated from Mary Washington College in Virginia in 1948, and returned to the Boston area to marry Edmond Granger Dyett, Jr. (Ted) in 1950. They resided in West Newton for 55 years where they raised five children. Adrienne and her family were members of the Skating Club of Boston for over 30 years, and members of the West Newton Neighborhood Club for more than 20 years. She loved Cape Cod, having spent childhood summers at her grandparents' house in Dennisport, and then at her own Yarmouthport house. She was an accomplished clarinetist, librarian, and worked at Harvard and UMass in survey research. When her daughters became competitive figure skaters, she taught herself to sew like a professional to make their costumes from scratch. She excelled at candlepin bowling; loved playing cards, crocheting and most of all, embracing her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, humble beauty and playful spirit. Adrienne was predeceased by her husband and leaves five children, E. Granger Dyett III, Lindsay Dyett Ray, Kimberly Foley, Meredith Connor and Jocelyn Biondo; and eight grandchildren: Cameron, Victoria, Olivia, Jason, Tyler, Maxton, Tiffany and Timothy. She is participating in the donation program for neurological research at Yale, dedicated to finding a cure for Alzheimer's. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM at St David's Episcopal Church in South Yarmouth, MA on October 18, 2013. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Adrienne's name to the or Save the Children.
