Joseph A. Brady 84, a former longtime resident of Franklin, died peacefully, Monday August 19, 2013 at the Medway Country Manor Nursing Home following an illness. He was the beloved husband of Jeannette I. (Shea) Brady of Norfolk. Born in Boston, March 8, 1929 a son of the late Joseph B. and Anna (Healey) Brady, he was raised and educated in Brighton and was a graduate of Brighton High School. Joseph was a retired signalmen, he worked for over 42 years for numerous railroad companies including the Boston and Albany, the New York Central, Penn Central, and Conrail. He served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army and was discharged in February 1953. Joseph was a volunteer at the Franklin Senior Center and assisted with the Meals on Wheels program. A devoted catholic, he was a communicant of St. Marys Church in Franklin, where he served as an usher and was responsible for opening and closing of St. Marys Cemetery. He treasured spending time with his family and watching the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He was a member of the Franklin Knights of Columbus and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen. In addition to his wife of 60 years, he is survived by 3 daughters; Mary Misuraca and her husband Tom of Texas, Kathi Lucas of Ohio and Jane Chinnaswamy and her husband Mano of Wrentham, 6 grandchildren; Joseph Lucas of Ohio, Heather and her husband Chris Penton of Ohio, Nicaela, Elly and Trent Chinnaswamy of Wrentham. Relatives and friends were invited to attend his funeral Saturday Aug. 24th, at 9AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, 1 Church Sq., Franklin at 10AM. Interment followed at the parish cemetery.
