Robert Willoughby Obituary

Mr. Robert B. Willoughby, 83, of Southborough and formerly of Marthas Vineyard, died Monday, December 19, 2011 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. He was the husband of Carmella (Cellucci) Willoughby for the past 63 years. Mr. Willoughby was born and raised on Marthas Vineyard and a WWII Army veteran. After his tour of duty he left Marthas Vineyard to find work. He worked as a painter for the former Bay State Abrasives in Westborough for 22 years. Bob was an avid fisherman and would often be found on Memorial Wharf in Edgartown teaching people the skills of fishing and how to be a good warden of the sea. He is one of the longest participants of the annual Marthas Vineyard Striped bass and Bluefish Derby. He also enjoyed bowling and horseshoes. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Robert B. Willoughby, Jr. of PA; Michael Willoughby and his fiance Karen Carver of Southborough; Doreen W. Patulak of Auburn; Kevin Willoughby of Marthas Vineyard; Edward Willoughby and his wife Debi of Uxbridge; 10 grandchildren; and 9 Great grandchildren. He is pre-deceased by his son, Richard Willoughby who died in 1985. Visiting hours were held on Tuesday, Dec. 27, from 4 to 7 PM at the Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main Street , Southborough. A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, Dec. 28, at 10 AM at St. Matthew Church, Highland St., Southborough. Burial followed in the Southborough Rural Cemetery.
