James Roderick Kilborn Jr., died on February 22, 2014 at his home in Elimsport, Pa. Mr. Kilborn was born to James R. and Jewell A. Kilborn in 1928 on the United Fruit Company in Oriente Province, Cuba. After moving to Quincy, MA in 1933. Mr. Kilborn attended Quincy public schools graduating in 1946. After a two year stint with the U.S. Navy
and some time with the Forestry Service in Idaho. Mr. Kilborn attended Boston University graduating with a Business Degree. He received a commission as an Ensign in the Naval Reserve in 1955 and began a career with General Electric. In 1960 Mr Kilborn married Marianne Packard Keever in Cleveland, OH. In 1969 he moved his family to Norwell, Mass. where he was very active in town affairs and served on a number of boards culminating in his becoming Chairman of the Board of Selectman. He retired from the Naval Reserve in 1988 as a LCDR. Shortly after Mrs. Kilborn's death in 1991, Mr. Kilborn moved to Elimsport, Pa. He was a Master Mason in the Massachusetts Blue Lodge, a lifelong member of the NRA, and a private pilot. He is survived by Mrs. Peri Taylor, James R. Kilborn III, Scott David Kilborn, and four grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are being handled by McNamara Sparrell Funeral Home and services will be conducted at the United Church of Christ in Norwell. 1 p.m. on March 7, 2014.
