Obituary Condolences

Nicholas A. Paolini Sr., 81, of Norwell died after a very brief illness at his home surrounded by his family under the care of the Hospice of the South Shore Nov. 10, 2013. He was born in Boston, son of the late Nicholas and Edith (Mucci) Paolini and was raised and educated in East Boston. Nick had resided throughout the South Shore and most recently lived in Norwell since 2008. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and was an accomplished champion boxer on the USMC boxing team. Mr. Paolini retired several years ago after a 30-year career as a managing supervisor with OConnell Brothers Construction in Quincy. He enjoyed bowling and was a member of several leagues at Wright Brothers Lanes, which is now the Union St. Lanes in Holbrook. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed travelling to Florida for Spring Training on many occasions. He is survived by his children, Nicholas A. Paolini Jr. of Whitman, Cheryl L. McDonald of Abington, Deborah A. Davis of Maine, Richard D. Paolini of Abington, Ida M. Katsoulis of Methuen and Michael T. Paolini of Abington; his girlfriend, Claire Wing of Abington; his former wife, Jean Paolini; 22 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Nick was predeceased by two children, Cynthia J. Kilbreth and William Paolini, and two brothers, Francis and Anthony Paolini. A celebration of his life was held at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St., Rockland, Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. A funeral Mass was celebrated in Holy Family Church, 403 Union St., Rockland, at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15.
