Leibowitz, Robert J., 66, of Rockport, Maine, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Judith A. (McCarty) Leibowitz. They were married for 46 years. Born in Springfield on April 3, 1947, Bob was the son of Vivian (Singer) Leibowitz of Charlotte, NC and the late Jacob Leibowitz. He graduated from Northeastern University and was a self-employed accountant and a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley. He was a marathon runner and an avid golfer and loved Maine, sailing, hiking, and especially his grandchildren. Bob will be deeply missed by his two daughters, Laura Tripp and her husband, Rob, of Kingston and Lesley Snyder and her husband, Josh, of Norwell; 3 sisters, Teri Ackerman and her husband Bernie of Fort Mill, SC, Lynn Leibowitz and her partner Stephen of Greenwood Village, CO, and Susie Collins and her husband Philip of Newport, NC; one brother, Richard Leibowitz and his partner, Beverly Johnson, of Wareham; many nieces and nephews, wonderful friends, and his 3 beloved grandsons, Jack, Drew, and Ben. The Leibowitz family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and doctors at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham & Women's Hospital for their exceptional comfort and care. All services will be private.
