William P. Bill Christie, 66, of Norwell died after a long courageous battle with cancer Aug. 9, 2013. He was born in Fitchburg son of the late William and Mary (Ahern) Christie. He was raised and educated in Fitchburg and was a graduate of Northeastern University. He was formerly employed as a construction superintendent for Vappi, Barr & Barr and the Perini Corporation. He was a founding member of the South Coastal Corvette Club, a member of the Patriot Guard motorcycle group, a member of the Braintree Rifle Club, a member of the Weymouth Tennis Club, an avid motorcyclist and he was active in the planning of the annual tribute for the Run of the Fallen Soldiers of New Hampshire that was organized by his daughter Julie. He served as a football coach for 20 years in the Norwell Youth Football Program and the Norwell Little League. He is survived by his wife Margaret (Connolly) Christie, a daughter Julie Hurrie and her husband Paul M. Jr, of Hampton Falls, NH and by two adored twin grandchildren, Connor and Cailin. He will be sorely missed by many nieces, nephews, Godchildren and friends. Visiting hours were held in the Sullivan Funeral Homes, 551 Washington St, Rte. 53 in Hanover, Tuesday, Aug. 13, from 4-8 PM. A funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 10 AM in St. Helens Church, 383 Washington St., Rt. 53 Norwell. Interment in Washington Street Cemetery.
