Barbara L. Harris Obituary
Barbara "Bobbie" Leslie Harrie nee Frary, 92, of Eastham, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Hubert and Hazel (Flood) Frary. She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years George R. Harris. Bobbie was born on Sept. 18, 1920 in Greenfield, MA. She was educated at Wilton Academy in Wilton, Maine, Farmington State College in Farmington, Maine and Perry Normal School, in Boston, MA where she received her teaching degree. While in Boston she went on a blind date with a U.S. Navy sailor, George R. Harris, they were married May 8th, 1943. They moved frequently due to her husband's job with General Electric. After their retirement they moved to Cape Cod permanently. She worked with many Theater groups and schools designing and sewing costumes. Bobbie loved to travel with her husband and also with Farmington State alumni. Most especially she enjoyed her photo with a Rhinoceros in Kenya on Safari. "Funny Grammie" was the best back rubber in the world according to her grandchildren. She is survived by her children; Barbara L. Cantlie and her husband Ron of Chagrin, Ohio, Martha D. Shuster and her husband Hank of Orleans, MA, her son, Paul T Harris and his fianc Connie Delano of Kingston, MA; grandchildren; Lisa Hummell (John) of Kingwood, TX, Ron W. Cantlie, Jr. (Cheena), of Columbus, OH, Jennifer L. McMahon (Chris), of Chagrin Falls, OH, Mathew Harris (Betsy) of Denver, CO, Brittany Harris and Emily Harris, of Yarmouth, MA, David H. Young, Jr. (Sarah) of Stratham, NH, Ashley D. Young, Belmont, MA, Andrew E. Young (Simone), of Tampa, FL, Eryn Hibbert (James) of Porter, ME, Brian Harris of Orleans, MA, Adam Harris, of Eastham, MA; great grandchildren; Genevieve Harris, Charlie, James, and Gwyneth Harris, Tyler and Kyle McMahon, Madelyn, Jack and Susanah Hummell, Cameron Young, Hannah, Om and Roshen Cantlie; sisters; Shirley E. Pope, of Eastham, MA and Priscilla Richman and her husband John of Chicago, IL. She also leaves behind her daughter-in-law Amy Harris. Besides her husband George, she was predeceased by her son George R. Harris Jr. The family wishes to thank the staff at Eagle Pond nursing home for all their kindness and care during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to: Camp Sunshine, 35 Acadia Road, Casco, ME 04015. A committal service will promptly begin at 1:45pm on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
