Elaine (Hansen) Cahill, age 90, passed away on October 16, 2018, at South Shore Rehab & Skilled Care in Rockland. Originally from Arlington, where she graduated and went on to secretarial school, Elaine met her future husband, the late Thomas F. Cahill, at a dance at the Seamans Club of Boston and they were married for 55 years. Residing in Arlington after their marriage, they moved to Pembroke in the 1960s where they resided for over 40 years. Elaine was originally employed by the former BLH Electronics in Waltham and later worked for the law firm Schair, Duquet, Gorfinkle & Whiting in Braintree for many years. Elaine also worked at the Pembroke Council on Aging later in her life and was a certified SHINE volunteer counselor. She coordinated many senior trips for the Pembroke elder community and she and Tom enjoyed traveling to different places with them. Elaine enjoyed bowling and was a member (and often President) of the Wednesday night women's league at the Hanover Bowladrome. She was a member of the South Shore Knitters Guild and was president of the Silver Lake Regional High School Music Association. Later in life, Elaine found company in attending the First Church of Pembroke and working at the thrift store, plus many of the church fairs. She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Cora Hansen of Arlington, her husband Tom and her beloved sister-in-law, Mary Cahill, whom was in their care for most of her life. Elaine was loved very much by her surviving family; her son, John Allan Cahill of Weymouth, her daughter Karen Cook and son-in-law Jim Cook of Cohasset, her daughter Kristina Cahill and daughter-in-law Cheryl Kangiser of Avon and her beloved granddaughter, Leah Cook of Cohasset. A memorial service to celebrate Elaines life will be held at Saturday, November 3, at Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte. 53, in Hanover, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Donations in Elaine's memory can be made to Hospice of the South Shore.
