P. Brooks Kelly Jr., 77 of Pembroke, beloved husband for 55 years of Anne (Slavin) Kelly, died peacefully on Friday, October 5 after courageously battling a long illness. Known as Brooks, he was born March 10, 1935 in Boston, son of Paul Brooks Kelly, M.D. and Rhoda (Middaugh) Kelly. Brooks was a proud member of the U.S. Army serving two years at SHAPE Headquarters in Paris, France during the Korean War. He was employed at Dickie-Raymond for 13 years and in 1974 he became the Executive Director of the Plymouth County Development Council. Besides his wife, Brooks is survived by five children, Terry Johnson and her husband Ken of Pembroke, Brian and his wife Michaele of Lewisburg, PA, Glen of Woods Hole, Amy of Middleboro and her fianc Stephen Yurewicz and Kevin Brooks of Hull. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Gregory and Brendan Johnson of Pembroke and Amanda and Sean Kelly of Lewisburg, PA. He is also survived by his brother William J. Kelly and his wife Alice Wooden-Kelly of Marlton, NJ and many wonderful nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth for their kindness and compassion shown to Brooks during his illness. Calling hours were held at the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte 53 in Hanover on Thursday, October 11.
