Shea, Matthew J.  
Matthew J. Shea, 37, of New Bedford, formerly of Plymouth, died at his home on May 8th, 2015. He was born in Quincy on July 25, 1977, son of Robert L. and Rosemary L. (Vogellus) Shea of Plymouth. Matt was a graduate of Plymouth North High School in the Class of 1996. He was also a graduate of Assumption College in Worcester in the Class of 2004, with a degree in Marketing. Following graduation, Matt was employed by various Plymouth companies in the home improvement industry. After moving to New Bedford, he was employed by a major real estate management company. Matt's interests included football, which he played while at Plymouth North and at Assumption For many years he was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills. His other interests included physical fitness, fishing, reading, music and the outdoors, especially hanging out at the beach with his many friends. Matt also had a keen interest in social issues, partly because of his fondness for Bob Marley's music which expressed opposition to all forms of injustice and social inequality. Matt leaves behind his beloved son Jackson James Shea, of Wilmington, North Carolina, his loving parents, Robert and Rosemary Shea, of Plymouth, his loving sister Alison M. Farrell and her husband Steve, of Norton, and their daughter Olivia, and his devoted birthmother, Marie E. Murphy of Holbrook, as well as his best friend Tiffany and her children. Visiting hours at Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth will be held on Thursday May 28, 2015, from 6 pm to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter Church, 86 Court St., Plymouth on Friday, May 29 at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1359 Acushnet Ave, New Bedford, MA 02746.

Stowell, Tula - Plymouth  
Tula Mae (Fisch) Stowell. 96, of Greenville, NC died in Naples, FL on May 13th, 2015 after a long and active life. Mrs. Stowell (Gram) was a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, homemaker, Episcopalian, professional, and volunteer. She was born in Gastonia, NC to Charles Fisch and Elizabeth Ellen (Austin) Fisch. Mrs. Stowell graduated from Morganton High School. Following graduation from Morganton High School, she graduated from the business program at Queens College in Charlotte, NC. On September 19, 1948, she married Samuel Stowell in Dublin, NH. Tula and Samuel raised a family, ran two family businesses and were married for over 41 years until his death on February 10, 1990. Gram served as vice-president of Stowell Corporation and president of Stowell Transportation Corporation in Rutland, Vermont for 28 years until both businesses were sold in 1976. She served as a volunteer for many years and as Director of Volunteer services at Brandon Training School. Mrs. Stowell co-founded the Havenwood School and Rutland Mental Health Services. Gram served on the formation of special education in Vermont public schools. Mrs. Stowell was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Humanities from the College of St. Joseph The Provider in 1970 in recognition of her many years of service as a volunteer. Gram served as president of Women of Trinity Episcopal Church and as director of Sunset Home in Rutland. She and her husband were incorporators of the newly constructed Rutland Regional Medical Center and were donors of the hospitals nondenominational chapel. Tula enjoyed reading, growing flowers, and keeping up with current events and financial news. She delighted in family reunions and found great joy in family gatherings and accomplishments of family members. Gram found the goodness and worth in everyone who touched her life and made each person feel special. Mrs. Stowell is survived by five children: David W. Stowell of Naples, FL; John Hershey Stowell of St. Johnsbury, VT; Elizabeth Goddard Stowell of Washington, NC; Benjamin Mansfield Stowell of East Hampstead, NH; and Aynn Jackson Stowell of Washington, NC. Mrs. Stowell is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Tula was predeceased in death by her parents; a brother, Jack Austin Campbell; a stepson; Samuel Stowell, Jr.; a grandson, Andrew Hershey Stowell; a cousin, Winnie Noles Yount, and Aunt Lottie Bennett. A private service will be held by family members at a later date.
