Claire R. (Rogers) Simpson, age 99, died on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at the Cedar Hill Nursing Home in Randolph. She was the devoted wife of the late Charles Simpson Sr. Born in Somerville, MA , Claire was a daughter of the late Frank and Louise (Barnes) Rogers. She was educated in Newton. Mrs. Simpson was well known for her endless hours of volunteer service. She visited nursing home patients for years, helping them by socially brightening their day. She also volunteered for Catholic Charities Second Hand Store as well as volunteering for the Plymouth Food Pantry. Claire was involved with many area churches, sharing her talent for singing at weddings and funerals all across the South Shore. She had lived in Cohasset and Plymouth for most of her life. Mrs. Simpson is survived by her sons Charles Simpson,Jr and his wife Christine of Marshfield, Jack Simpson and his wife Ronna of Whitman and her daughter Jean Edgemon and her husband Lynn of Portage, IN. She was the beloved sister of Mike Rogers of CA, Ruth Lally of Andover and Patricia Lahey of Newton. She was predeceased by several brother and sisters. Claire was the cherished grandmother of 7 and great-grandmother of 7. The funeral service took place on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 8:30 a.m. at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth.
