Clifton E. MacDonald Obituary
Clifton E. MacDonald died April 12, 2018 at Beth Israel Deaconess Plymouth. He was the husband of the late Marilyn (Maguire) MacDonald for over 57 years. Born in Plymouth the son of O. Clifton and Myra (Keene) MacDonald, he was a life-long resident of the town. Upon graduating from Plymouth High School in 1947, he entered the Army. During the Korean War, he was re-called, serving with the 23rd regiment, 2nd infantry division, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He worked for over 30 years as a rural letter carrier in the Plymouth Post Office. He previously worked for the Plymouth National Bank, and in later years served as a Poll Worker in Precinct 5. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Mass Rural Letter Carriers Association, Korean War Veterans Association 23rd Infantry (KWB), 2nd (Indianhead) Division Association, Plymouth Post 40 American Legion and the D.A.V. He was a life-long Yankee Fan. He is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, Donna and William Eident of East Sandwich, and Lynn and Thomas Demanche of Mashpee; six grandchildren, Kathryn Berube and her husband Douglas, William Eident and his wife Ashley Starr, Daniel Eident and his wife Andrea, and Matthew, Michael and Jeffrey Demanche; and two great-grandchildren, Autumn and Henry Eident. He was also the father of the late Richard MacDonald. A period of visitation will take place on Monday, April 16, 2018, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Davis Funeral & Cremation Home at 373 Court St., Plymouth. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a burial in Vine Hills Cemetery, Plymouth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Reyes Syndrome Foundation, 426 N. Lewis Street, P.O. Box 829, Bryan, Ohio 43506-0829.
