John S. Breen Obituary
John Sherman Breen, 81, of Plymouth, MA formerly of Mano- met, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 10, 2013. Born in Dorchester on May 11, 1932, John was the eldest son of John Anthony Breen and Eleanor Sherman. John graduated from the Boston High School of Commerce in 1951 and was Airman First Class in the Air Force during the Korean War, stationed in Alaska. John had a lifelong career in real estate as both an appraiser and broker, earning him the nickname Broker Breen. In addition, John was an elected member of Town Meetings and the Planning Board. He was a Cub Scout leader, member and officer of the Commerce 21 Club, Rotary Club member, Cable Advisory Committee member, and religious educator at St. Bonaventure in Manomet. John was happiest when walking the beach, swimm- ing in the ocean, and spending time with his grandkids. He is most known for the many lives hes touched and his love of life. His original heartfelt poetry has been used to welcome new friendships and express sentiments, and countless people can recall the touching thought of an annual birthday message. He never hesitated to help those in need, and give guidance to those who did (and sometimes didnt) seek it. His presence will forever be felt and the lessons hes taught will be carried through generations to come. John is survived by his loving family: wife Cynthia (Leonard), children Jenn A Reed & James Mahoney, John L Breen & Joan Karl, Anthony S Breen & Samantha Breen, Jason M Breen, and Christy C Breen & Kevin Champoux. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, three siblings, many nieces and nephews, and many friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion Post 40 (Little West Pond Functions) at 199 Federal Furnace Rd in Plymouth, MA on Sunday June 16 from 3-7pm. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism P.O. Box 767 Framingham, MA 01701. Arrangements by Cart- mell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth. For on-line guestbook and directions see: www.cartmellfuneralhome .com.
