Marie A. Scannell Obituary
Marie A. Scannell, of Plymouth, formerly of Mission Hill, Boston passed away March 10, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Born October 22, 1942 to Mary (Cunniff) and John Durkin. Beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Scannell, beautiful mother of Robert J. Scannell and his wife Bonnie, Keri M. Scannell, Donna E. Owens and her husband Mark, and the late Deborah A. Scannell. Cherished Grammy to Sarah, Elizabeth, Joey, Tyler and Kevin. Sister of John Durkin, Maureen Earley, Eileen Durkin, Pauline Durkin, Barbara Durkin and the late Patricia Donovan and Richard Durkin. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews as well as many friends. Marie grew up in Mission Hill and moved to Plymouth in 1978 with her husband and children. There she began her career at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home and then Life Care Center as an Activities Coordinator where she loved working with the residents. Marie enjoyed music, reading and spending time with her cats. She had an amazing talent for sewing, painting and quilting. What brought her the greatest joy was spending time with her family and lunch dates with her dear friend Linda Dries. If you were lucky enough to know her, you were lucky enough. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court Street, Plymouth from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral will take place on Thursday morning from the Cartmell Funeral Home at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, South Meadow Rd., Plymouth. Interment will be in the Vine Hills Cemetery, Plymouth. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Judes Childrens Fund; www.stjude.org.
