Michelle Kender Obituary

Michelle Steele Kender passed away May 20, after bravely battling cancer. She leaves her beloved husband, James L. Kender of Plymouth. She also leaves her beloved son, David Michael Gerasin, his wife Elisa, and grandson, Tristan, and granddaughter, Neve, of Kittery, Maine. From the time David was a baby until her death, she always told him he was her son and her sun. She is also survived by her stepson, Michael, his wife Sara, and two granddaughters, Kayla and Siera of Gilmanton, N.H.. She was predeceased by her sisters, Rose Stephan of Eastham and Lana Argir of Harwich; and is survived by her brother, Duane Steele of Provincetown; and sister, Bonnie McGhee of Truro. She and her former husband, Fred Gerasin, owned and operated the Kancamagus Motor Lodge in Lincoln, N.H., for years and after 18 years of marriage got divorced but remained friends until her death. She later purchased and operated The Lakeview Inn of Wolfeboro, N.H., something she was very proud of. She was president of the Lincoln-Woodstock Chamber of Commerce and later became president of the Wolfeboro Chamber of Commerce. Jims work required moving to Annapolis, Md., where Michelle became General Manager of the Kent Manor Inn and later the Penwick House. Missing New England, after six years, they relocated to Plymouth where Jim and Michelle set up a new company, GPM Equipment that was very successful. Despite her career, her happiest days were with her husband and family. A memorial service will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 619 State Road, (Manomet), Plymouth, Friday, May 24, at 11 a.m., where family and friends are welcome. Viewing hours will be Thursday, May 23, from 4-7 p.m. Burial will be private. My deepest sympathies are extended to Michelle's family during this difficult time. I was a caregiver for Michelle for two months and feel very blessed that I got to know Michelle as well as I did. She will be missed very much.
