Virginia V. Light, 87, passed away peacefully at Penbay Medical Center on Tuesday September 17, 2013. She was born in Plymouth, MA on December 26, 1925 the daughter of the late Leland and Mildred Dodge Vannah. Growing up in Plymouth she would attend local schools and was a graduate of Plymouth High School. Her summer months were spent in Waldoboro living with family and working at various places. This tradition continued even after her high school days. After finishing her education she worked at Butners Department Store in Plymouth. When the war in Europe broke out she began to volunteer for the Red Cross at Camp Edwards. While there she would complete a variety of tasks. Her time spent doing this work was some of the best times of her life. During one of her summer trips to Waldoboro she would meet her future husband Charles. The two were married in June of 1948 and settled onto the Light family farm, the same farm that Charles was raised on. While living in Waldoboro a position at Sylvania opened up and she began her career there. This career lasted many years before she would return back to the farm to continue to help with the day to day operations. She enjoyed knitting, reading, and in her later years playing cards. Living on the farm had its perks as she loved being around the horses and other animals. A master in the kitchen nothing ever came from a package it was always cooked homemade from scratch. She was Past Master at the Progressive Grange, and was a past member of Knox Pamona Grange and the Midcoast Shriners Ladies. While attending the Methodist Church in Waldoboro you could find her singing in the choir or teaching the children at Sunday School. In her later years she was a member of the Lincoln County Assembly of God in Damariscotta. She loved her family and was very supportive in everything they did never once telling the girls no. She tried to open up as many doors for them as possible. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all that knew and loved her.
