PLYMOUTH John Robert Brodin, age 42, of Plymouth, died peacefully Tuesday, June 3, at his home, at 4:20 in the afternoon. John's parents and brother were at his side, and he had just spoken to his sons when he lost his second battle with cancer. Born in Quincy, June 13, 1971, John was the son of Gunnar and Charlene Brodin. He was the devoted father of two sons, Robert and Thomas, and the loving brother of David and his wife Karen Brodin, and his former wife Tamsen Hammond. All who knew John knew of his incredible sense of humor and intelligence. Among his many talents were barbecuing, network clustering, and liking Chinese. He celebrated his Viking heritage with gusto, appreciated single-malt scotch with flair, and frequently settled bets with an amazing ability to recall arcane bits of trivia. Since he was young, John was a voracious reader, gamer, and computer enthusiast. He also loved to roast coffee beans from around the world and serve it with pride to those he cherished most. John was a long-time Patriots fan, and loved attending games with his family and friends. Most of all, John loved his two sons, Robbie and Tommy.he also is survived by his nephew Dawson Brodin A visitation will be held at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth, Tuesday, June 10, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a service at noon. Burial in Manomet Cemetery will take place after the service, behind the Second Church of Plymouth at 512 State Road.
