John (Jack) Hoblitzell, 85, of East Orleans, MA, formerly of Westfield, NJ, passed away on August 9, 2019. He was the loving husband of 62 years to Sarah (Sally) (White) Hoblitzell. He was born on November 18, 1933, in Elizabeth, NJ. Jack graduated from La Salle Military Academy, Oakdale, NY, in 1951 and received a BBA from the University of Notre Dame in 1955. Upon graduation he joined the family business Rahway Auto Supply & Co, a Chevrolet dealership located in Rahway, NJ, until his retirement in 1992. Jack was president of the Rahway NJ Rotary Club and Union County Automobile Dealers Association. He was also a trustee of the NJ Automobile Dealers Association. In 2006, Jack and Sally relocated to East Orleans, MA. His favorite pastime was playing golf at the Captains Golf Course in Brewster. He was active in the Friends of the Orleans Council on Aging and served as president for 3 years. He was also an usher at St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church. Jack was preceded in death by his father, William, his mother, Jane, and brother, William. He is survived by his wife, Sally; his sons John Jr. (wife Jill), James (wife Susan), and Thomas (wife Lisa); his daughter Mary McHugh (husband Scott); and his sister Julia Buonocore (husband Fredric). He is also survived by his four grandsons: Mathew Hoblitzell, Timothy Hoblitzell, (John) William Hoblitzell, and Patrick McHugh; and five step-grandchildren: Daniel, Sean, Nicolas, Gabriella, and Daniel. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Orleans Council on Aging Day Center, Harbor Point at Centerville, and Hospice for their tireless support and dedication. Visiting hours were held on Thursday, August 15th at Nickerson Funeral Home, Chatham, MA.
