Obituary Condolences

Howard L. Abbott Jr., of New Orleans, La., passed away at his home on April 11, 2014, at the age of 74. Howard was born in Quincy, Massachusetts on Dec. 24, 1939. He graduated from Holbrook High School. He continued his schooling and graduated from Northeastern University in Boston MA. Howard then joined the Army and served as a first Lt. in the Signal Corp stationed in Korea. Howard held many jobs throughout his life and was extremely dedicated to them all. These included Citi Service Co., Starwoods Hotels, and Hennessy News in Holbrook. Howard retired just last year from The Ritz Carlton in New Orleans, La. He most enjoyed spending time with his family, attending baseball games and watching his grandson play various sports. His favorite team was always the Boston Red Sox and he followed them very closely. After his retirement, Howard volunteered at Trinity Episcopal Church in New Orleans on a regular basis. Howard is survived by his daughter Cheryl Anderson and her husband (Greg) of Atlanta, Ga., his son Paul Abbott of New Orleans, La., his daughter Jill Comeaux and her husband (David) of New Orleans, La., and his beloved grandson Ben Comeaux of New Orleans, La. He is also survived by his sister Judith N Reali and her husband (John) of Smithfield, R.I. and sister-in-law Leah Abbott of Holbrook, along with his nieces Karen Deschaine, Joyce Orcutt, Leah Knight, and nephew Richard Abbott Jr. In addition, he leaves behind his aunt Marjorie Kenrick and family, as well as step-children Thomas Conner, Karen Vasselian and children, William Conner, and Kerry Reilly. Howard also had many other friends and family that he cared for deeply. Howard is preceded in death by his wife Beverly Abbott, father Howard L. Abbott Sr., mother Nathalie R. Abbott, and brother Richard E. Abbott. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend a visitation period on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Cartwright Funeral Home; 69 S Franklin Street (Rte. 37), Holbrook from 9 to 10:30 a.m. with a Funeral Service to follow in St. John's Episcopal Church; 322 S. Franklin St., Holbrook, Mass. at 11 a.m. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Randolph, Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Loaves and Fishes, Trinity Episcopal Church, 1329 Jackson Ave., New Orleans, La. 70130.
