Edward J. Kelly, 81, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Mary E. (Smyth) Kelly. Born in Malden, he was raised and educated in Everett. Mr. Kelly was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked for the Mass. Highway Department for many years and retired at age 57 as the State Highway Foreman. A lover of cats, in his free time, he enjoyed bird watching, landscaping, driving to Cape Cod, watching Nascar and classic TV and visiting Bobs Foodmart in Stoughton. Mr. Kelly is survived by his children, Patricia Standish and her husband Myles Billy Standish, James F. Kelly and Thomas E. Kelly all of Stoughton and Theresa Kelly of Norton. He was the grandfather of Kim Mylonas, Karen Standish, Danielle Kelly, Kristen Kelly and Shannon Kelly; and the great-grandfather of Steven Mylonas, Hailey McNeil and Hannah McNeil. He was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters; and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral prayers were held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27), Stoughton, Saturday, March 15, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours were Friday from 5-8 p.m. Interment in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
