Jeannette (Suethugu) Nelligan-Smits, 78, died Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a long illness. She was the wife of William C. Smits. Born, raised and educated in Japan, she came to the United States and settled in Hyde Park. She was a resident of Stoughton for over 50 years. Mrs. Nelligan-Smits worked as a floral designer for Especially Yours Florist and Great Elm Greenhouse both in Easton for many years. She retired 6 years ago. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping, cooking and re enacting civil and revolutionary war battles. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Thomas E. Nelligan of Lynn and Kim Hannon and her husband Michael of Canton. She was the stepmother of Beverly A. Smits of Amherst. She was the proud grandmother of Kylie Hannon, Miken Hannon and Liana Smits. Funeral was held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27), Stoughton on Tuesday, March 18, at 8 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 9 a.m. Visiting hours on Monday, March 17, from 5 - 8 p.m. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery.
