John J. Jack Washwell Sr., 66, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home Wednesday, July 16, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Sharon L. (Fisher) Washwell for 44 years. Son of the late William and Florence (Holt) Washwell, he was born in Boston. He was a resident of Stoughton for the past 56 years and was educated in Stoughton schools. Mr. Washwell served in the U.S. Army National Guard and was a veteran of the Vietnam era. He was a truck driver for ABF Freight in Avon and was a member of the Teamsters Local 653. Jack was a member of the NRA and the Taunton Gun Club. He was also a member of the Grace Church in Avon. He enjoyed fishing but was most passionate about spending time with his family, especially his grandson. In addition to his wife, Mr. Washwell is survived by his children, Debra L. Jennings and her husband Frederick of Easton and John J. Jack Washwell Jr. and his wife Kim of San Diego, Calif.; as well as his grandson, Christopher Jennings. He was the brother of William Washwell and his wife Barbara of Stoughton and the late Patricia McAuley. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Walter Sonny McAuley of Stoughton; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral was held from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27), Stoughton, Saturday, July 19, at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral service at Grace Church, Avon, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours were Friday, July 18, from 4-7 p.m. Interment in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
