Barbara A. Borden, of Canton, passed away peacefully at the Ellis Nursing Home, Norwood, Wednesday, August 13, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Richard Jackson Borden and Brallie (Dekle) Borden. She was born in Detroit, Mich. She moved to Braintree and received her education in Braintree and at the Fay Business School. She had been employed at State Street Bank, Boston, as a secretary, where she worked for more than 30 years until her retirement. She was an active member of the Union Congregational Church of Weymouth and Braintree for 70 years. Barbara volunteered for the Canton Food Pantry and the Canton Library. She loved traveling, skiing, and the Red Sox team. Barbara was an avid golfer and had been a member of the Lost Brook Golf League of Norwood. She will be sadly missed by her brother, Richard D. Borden married to Bette Borden; and her niece, Sandra Camera and her husband Vernon Camera, all of Wallkill, N.Y. She is also survived by a great-niece, Melissa Toth; and a great-nephew, Joseph Toth. In addition, she leaves behind beloved cousins and friends. Visiting hours were at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree, Tuesday, August 19, from 10 a m - 12 p.m. A funeral service followed the visiting hours at 12 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Rachel Bickford, Pastor of the Union Congregational Church, officiating. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
