Anita J. Sethares

Anita Jean (Sample) Sethares, of Bridgewater, formerly of Bedford and Stoughton, died peacefully at the Royal Nursing Home in Falmouth, Dec. 28, 2013, at the age of 82. Born and raised in Brockton, Anita graduated from Brockton High School and Bridgewater State Teachers College where she excelled in sports and received a bachelor's degree in Physical Education. Anita was a lifelong member of the Unitarian-Universalist Church where she sang in the choir and actively participated on the Parish and Social Justice Committees. Anita was an activist on both the local and national stage, dedicating herself to issues of peace and social justice, and to candidates for political office who shared her progressive views. Anita loved to dance and performed with local theater groups. She welcomed all with a warm and caring smile. She was the beloved wife for 38 years of George Sethares of Falmouth; devoted sister of Elsie (Sample) Lizio of North Easton, Charles Sample of Warwick, R.I., and the late David Sample and Lawrence Sample; dedicated mother of Gary Sethares and his wife Kerry of Billerica, Lisa Rich and her husband Stephen of Middleboro, Mark Sethares and his wife Elizabeth of Falmouth, and Greg Sethares and his wife Kristen of Marion. Also survived by eight grandchildren, Jeffrey, Ryan, Joseph, Alexandria, Leandra, Kaitlyn, Jillian, and Mark; and four great-grandchildren. Visiting hours were held at the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth, Sunday, Jan. 5, from 12-2 p.m., followed by a memorial service.
