Beatrice Frances (Plouffe) Botelho, 90, of Rockland, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on April 30, 2013. The daughter of the late John and Nellie (Condon) Plouffe, she was born in Rockland on September 25, 1922. Bea was raised and educated in Rockland and studied Fashion Design in Boston in the 1940s. She worked at RH Whites Department Store in Boston prior to marrying her husband, with whom she raised eleven children. Bea derived great happiness from being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and was a constant source of strength and love for all who knew her. She was a gifted seamstress who enjoyed sewing clothes for herself and her family. In her later years, she created beautiful costumes for American Girl Dolls, and had fun selling her designs at craft fairs. As an active octogenarian, Bea volunteered at Brockton Hospital, where she was once named Volunteer of the Year. She also enjoyed baking her special coffee cake as a volunteer for the Holy Family Breakfast Club, an activity she continued until her recent illness. She was the devoted wife of the late M. Michael Botelho, loving mother of LTC, USA (Ret) Michael Botelho and his wife Elaine of Mattapoisett, Frances Hoeg and her husband Walter of Kingston, Paul Botelho and his wife Marla of Hanover, Anne Sliwinski and her husband Daniel of Scarborough ME, Christopher Botelho of Whitman, Marilyn Werkheiser and her husband Dennis of Rockland, James Botelho and his wife Karen of Rockland, Beatrice Reynolds and her husband John of Hanson, Kathleen Kawa and her husband Fred of Whitman, Lawrence Botelho and his wife Linda of Rockland and the late Steven Botelho (HM2, USN). She was the loving mother- in-law of Lynne Botelho of Rockland. She was the youngest sister of the late Blanche Eastman, Bernice Plouffe, Ruth McMorrow, John Plouffe, and Helen Martin. She was the cherished grandmother of 21, great-grandmother of 16, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Mary Lynch of Rockland, with whom she shared a special bond. Visiting hours were in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 45 East Water St. in Rockland on Thursday, May 2, 2013, from 4 - 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, May 3, 2013, at 11 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 403 Union St., in Rockland.
