Frances M. Drago, of Sandwich, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2013 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis with her family by her side. Born Nov. 10, 1935 in East Hartford, Connecticut, she was the daughter of Margaret (Lawton) and Francis G. Byrnes. Fran was a graduate of Boston College in 1957 and began her teaching career in the Scituate Public School System. She taught first grade for 36 years at Wampatuck Elementary School where she made many lifelong friends. Fran was married for 54 years to her husband and best friend Frank who predeceased her in 2012. They enjoyed many happy years together raising their family in Scituate and Cohasset before retiring to Sandwich in 2006. Fran dedicated her life to her children. Fran was always her sons biggest fan and attended hundreds of sporting events over the years. She touched the lives of not only her own children but also many of her students throughout her career. She loved to hear about the successes of her former students and incredibly never forgot the name of a single student. Above all else, Fran was devoted to her grandchildren. She was extremely proud of their accomplishments and loved to attend their horse shows, plays, golf matches and concerts. Grandma was famous for her bottomless gift bags that the grand kids received every holiday and birthday. Fran will be greatly missed by her five sons, Larry and his wife Laurie of Marstons Mills and their daughters Samantha of San Francisco and Emily of North Carolina, Robert of Plymouth, Peter of Hingham, Philip of Hingham, and John and his wife Ingrid and their children Nicholas and Taylor of Duxbury. She is also survived by her dear sister Patricia Walton of Ft. Myers, Florida. The Drago family would like to thank the staff of the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital of Sandwich and the staff of Cape Cod Hospital for their exceptional care of Fran during this difficult time. A funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday April 19, 2013 at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Wianno Ave., Osterville. Interment at Bourne National Cemetery. Visiting hours were prior to the Mass from 9 to 10:15 a.m. at the John-Lawrence Funeral Home 3778 Falmouth Rd. (Rte. 28) Marstons Mills. Donations in Frances M.
