Michele Dufault Obituary

Michele Elizabeth Dufault, age 22, of Scituate died in a lab accident on April 13 in New Haven, CT. Michele was the beloved daughter of Diane Quintin Dufault and Robert Dufault. She is survived by her parents and her older sister Caroline, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was the granddaughter of Robert Dufault and the late Mabel Dufault, and the late Paul and Ruth Quintin. She will be deeply missed by her large family and her many friends at Yale and Nobles. Michele was a senior at Yale University where she majored in Astronomy and Physics and was an outstanding student and involved in many volunteer activities. She attended public schools in Scituate and graduated with honors from Noble and Greenough School where she was captain of the crew team and ran cross-country. She was active in events encouraging young women to explore scientific fields, and helped organize annual science fairs for local students. She had a leadership role in the Women in Physics Conference. She played the saxophone and was a member of the Yale Precision Marching Band. She was part of the Yale Drop team, which involved anti-gravity experiments carried out at NASA. A student in Saybrook College and had many friends throughout the University. She volunteered at New England Village in Pembroke, MA. Micheles teachers, both at Nobles and at Yale, made it a point to speak of her extraordinary abilities. A funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 10 a.m. in St. Marys of the Nativity in Scituate Harbor. Visiting hours were held Friday, April 15, from 4 - 8 p.m. at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St., (across from St. Anthonys Church), Cohasset. Interment private. A memorial service will be held on the Yale campus later in the spring. To The Default Family,
Even though we have never met, I am writing as a '75 Yale grad who just opened his Alumni Magazine and felt devastated by what I read. It is a challenge just trying to be a good parent, doing everything in your power to help provide your child or children with the best life you possibly can. To experience a child growing up and becoming so lovely and accomplished and genuinely involved in the world's most important aspects is exhilarating and I can only imagine the joy you must have felt every step of the way. I am so very sorry.

To The Dufault Family,
We are so sorry to hear of the loss of your precious Daughter, Michele. Life has been so harsh to all of you within a short period of time. Michele had within her a zest for life and all that she could achieve and experience. She also had an open heart willing to help others. She was a beautiful person: inside and out. May her burning desire to experience life; be with you all. May she guide you and strengthen you; to move beyond the sadness and the grief, to a place of peace and happiness in remembering her life and love. You are in our prayers. Our Sympathy and Love,
Terry Webb and Family

It is really upsetting. I wish the parents great strength. It must be too hard to experience such loss, but the best approach to have is that things happen for a reason. If things are going to happen, they happen, we do not have control over them.Death is the only merciless fact of this world, unfortunately. Rest in peace Michele.

Dear Dufault Family,

I express my sorrow for the entire Dufault for your loss of your loved one, Michele. I currently have Mrs. Dufault as my French teacher, and feel very sympathetic for her and her family. One night ago, I was flipping through the channels on my TV and saw a News Report regarding the tragic death of a student. I didn't think this was anything that would effect me, or others that are close to me. Then I began hearing rumors. As I heard more and more, I started feeling horrible. Then I found that it was going to involve somebody I knew. This is an accident nobody could of predicted. J'espère que Dieu vous guidera à travers ton peines.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Dufault and Caroline,
My heartfelt prayers and sympathy go out to you. I remember Michelle and her sweet smile. I remember the fun we had in my Kindergarten classroom learning French from "Madame Dufault". I remember how Michelle enjoyed our journal time. She drew wonderful pictures and told great stories. I am sorry I could not attend the funeral. I spend most of my time in Florida. Know you are in my prayers. God bless you with family and friends to comfort you, courage to bear the loss, and strength to carry on. Remember the three hearts at my door that stood for "I love you." It is still so. I love you all. Mrs. Duksta

Dear Mr.Dufault and family-
I am a student at weymouth high school and had Mr.Dufault as a teacher. Although math was my hardest subject and i barely attended class, i found that Mr.Dufault is a caring and loveable teacher. I heard about what happened and could not believe the news i was being told. I hope the best for your family and may God guide you through your sorrows.

Many loving memories of my cousin, Michele, will be kept forever. I would look forward to seeing her because we loved laughing about the amount of school work she had and the interesting subjects she was studying. No matter what, we always had something to talk about when we saw each other on holidays. Before, I never knew how much it hurt to lose someone. I will remember and miss you always Michele.
Love your cousin,
