Barbara Webster Obituary
Barbara (Chilik) Webster, age 67, of Scituate died Wednesday, May 26, at home surrounded by family. She was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Jan. 28, 1943, daughter of the late Tadeuscz and Maria Chilik. She graduated from William-Patterson University with a bachelor's degree in English (1964) and a master's degree in Reading Specialization (1970). She began her teaching career at Ridgefield Park High School, where she taught English for seven years and coached the schools fencing team to a state championship (1968-69). She then taught five years at Teaneck Junior High School, where she was nominated for teacher of the year in the state of New Jersey. She moved to Scituate in 1976, where she continued her teaching career at Brockton High School for 10 years until 1986. More recently, she continued her career as an English teacher at Sacred Heart High School in Kingston and as an adjunct professor at Massasoit Community College in Brockton. Barbara also served on the Scituate School Committee and was heavily involved throughout the town as well as the church community (FTCC). She enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading and spending time outdoors, as few of her favorite hobbies. She was the beloved wife of John H. Webster; loving mother of twins, Darin J. Webster and Kevin C. Webster, both of Scituate; sister of Yvonne (Chilik) Wollenberg of Teaneck, N.J., and Thomas Chilik of Las Vegas; sister-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Webster of Waldwick, N.J., Mr. and Mrs. George Webster of Mahwah, N.J., Patricia and Dr. Marshall Clapp of Ridgewood, N.J., and Mrs. Jean Webster of Laurel, Md. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held June 2. Arrangements were made by Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate.
