Jesuina D. Ribeiro Obituary
Jesuina Dina (Daluz) Ribeiro, of Scituate, passed away peacefully June 8, 2010, at her home surrounded by her family. She was 91. Daughter of the late Antonio Jose Totoy Daluz and Idalia Lilia Veiga Daluz, she was born in Figeira Pavoa-Santa Catarina, Fogo, Cabo Verde, Dec. 9, 1918. She immigrated with her family to Scituate in 1968. Known to her loving family as Da, she was the adored matriarch of her large family. Da was an amazing woman with incredible strength and a love of life; a devoted wife; a dedicated mother; a confidant to countless; and passionate storyteller. Da enjoyed entertaining family and friends with stories of the old country and coming to America. She was very proud of her family and their history and felt that it was important to pass it on to future generations. She was a faithful Catholic and was known for her daily recitation of the Rosary. She enjoyed music and dancing. She was especially fond of morna ballad and would not allow her age to stop her from expressing herself through this traditional form of song and dance. Although she enjoyed returning to her home in Cape Verde for vacations, she never liked being away from her large family and her beloved America for too long. In 1998, with her family at her side, she and her husband, Euclides, became U.S citizens during an emotional ceremony at historic Fanuel Hall in Boston. She worked at Winchester Repeating Arms, North Terminal Division in Hingham for over 20 years, retiring at the age of 71. She was the dearly loved wife for 64 years of Euclides KiKi Ribeiro of Scituate; devoted mother of Antonia Rosilda Veiga and her husband Gregory of Scituate and Maria Socorro Fontes and her husband Miguel of Brockton, Maria Lilia Powers and her husband Robert of Randolph, Maria Elsie Rampersad and her husband Kenny of Avon, Rosalina Wawa Grijalva and her husband David of Abington, Nick Ribeiro of Scituate and Angela Zilda Dray and her husband Robert of Scituate; loving grandmother to 19 grandchildren, Larry, Tommy, Johnny, Greg, Jessica, Kishan, Ana, Melissa, Shalisa, Christopher, Adrianna, Kelly, Dina, Roman, Nicky, Melanie, Alex, Bobby, Melinda; and 16 great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Issiah, Giovanni, Giselle, Jesiah, Lazarus, Jiva, Gianna, Gracelyn, Anisha, Ava, Grace, Mylee, Eliana, Kaikua, Zoe. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Loyal sister of Linda Fontes, Aguinaldo Daluz, Zulmira Ribeiro of Brockton, the late Zulmira Fernandes, Maria Caela Daluz, Henrique Daluz, Manuel Fernandes Daluz, Filemio Daluz, of Cape Verde and sister-in-law Floripa Ribeiro of Scituate. Da will be forever missed by those who were blessed to have had her in their lives. Funeral services were held June 12. Arrangements were made by the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, Scituate.
