John A. Green Sr. Obituary
John Arthur Green Sr., 84, died peacefully at home in Scituate on Saturday, May 12. Born in Boston in 1927, he was the son of the late Ellison Granville and Sarah (Waddingham) Green. He grew up on the South Shore, graduating from Cohasset High School in 1945. A man of many talents, he was well known as a master paperhanger. A parishioner at St. Lukes Episcopal Church, he served on the vestry as Junior Warden for many years. He loved his family, his little dog, Sparky, gardening, and treasure hunting with his friends. He is survived by his wife Emilie and their three children: Susannah Green and her husband Tyler Marino of Scituate, Joshua Green of Austin, TX and Jillian Green and her husband Casey Poukkula of Portland, OR .He is also survived by his ex-wife Mary Green of Cohasset and their children: John Green, Jr. and his wife Serena of Scituate, Robert Green of Kingston, Teri Bjorkdahl of Hollis, ME, Richard Green of Cohasset. He was the grandfather of Justin Green of Boston, Erik Bjorkdahl of Portland,ME, Erin Bjorkdahl Corleto of Utica, NY, Benjamin Green of Kingston, Samuel Green of Cohasset, Elisabeth Green of Scituate, Beatrix Poukkula of Portland, OR, Zaden Marino of Scituate and a soon-to-be-born grandson in Portland, OR. He was the great-grandfather of Luca and Olivia Corleto of NY and Henrik Bjorkdahl of ME. Predeceased by his sisters Ida Benjamin, Eileen Lavangie, and Jennie Larrivee, he also leaves his brother Daniel Green of Cohasset and a sister Barbara Carvahlo of Concord, NC as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at St. Lukes Church, First Parish Rd., Scituate on Saturday, August 25 at 11 a.m.. All who knew John are invited to attend.
