Joseph T. Lyons Sr. Obituary
Joseph T. Joe Lyons Sr., of Holbrook, passed away on May 3, 2018, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness, at the age of 79. Born in Boston, Joe graduated from Milton High School. Upon graduating, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. During his career Joe had several jobs. For almost 30 years, his main job was the maintenance manager at St. Johnsbury Trucking Co. in Braintree. However, he also was an aircraft mechanic, he was the owner of Superior Automotive Service Station in Bridgewater and after he officially retired, he drove a school bus for Xaverian Brothers High School for several years. In his free time Joe was an avid fan of B.C. and the N.E Patriots football teams, he enjoyed playing video games and was always quick with a joke and had a great sense of humor. Above all, he just enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Joe will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Joe was the husband of the late Dianne (Doherty) Lyons. Loving father of Dianne Bain and her husband Scott of Holbrook, Joseph Lyons Jr. and his wife Gail of No. Easton, Deborah Howe and her husband Timothy of Stoughton, Jeanine Matott and her husband Marc of East Bridgewater and Michael Lyons and his wife Laura of Va. Devoted brother of Barbara Bernard of Va. and Frances Tango and her husband Robert of Plymouth. Also survived by 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and his beloved cat Nicko. Joe was also adored and loved by his Poole Circle family. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend a visitation period on Thursday, May 10, from 5 | 6:30 p.m. in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 69 So. Franklin St. (Rte. 37) Holbrook. A memorial service held at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the MSPCA/Angell Memorial, 350 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130.
