Winifred (Mulkerrin) Corbett of Holbrook, formerly of Jamaica Plain and Galway, Ireland, suddenly Jan. 30, 2014, at the age of 86. Daughter of the late Marcus and Margaret (O'Malley) Mulkerrin. Beloved wife of the late Richard Corbett. Loving mother of Michael Corbett of Holbrook, Margaret Dame and her husband Robert of Charlottesville, VA , Patrick Corbett and his wife Alicia of Bridgewater, John Corbett of Holbrook, Maureen McDonough and her husband Thomas of Holbrook, Kathleen Butterfield and her husband Gary of Braintree, the late Eileen Corbett McDonough and Richard J. Corbett. Devoted sister of Barbara Webster and Coleman Mulkerrin of England, Margaret Keogh of Braintree, Patrick Mulkerrin of So. Boston, Nora Goonan of Quincy, the late Thomas Mulkerrin, Sally Joyce, Bridget Cloherty, Nancy Ryan, Mark, Morgan and Mary Mulkerrin. Dear grandmother of Colleen McDonough, Elizabeth and Rachael Corbett, Catherine and Andrew Dame, Gary, Richard and Margaret Butterfield, Sean and Heather McDonough and the late Patrick J. Corbett Jr. Also survived by her many nieces and nephews. Winifred was born Sept. 27, 1927 in County Galway, Ireland and lived in Ireland for 20 years before moving to America. She had lived in Holbrook for the past 50 years and previously in Jamaica Plain. Winifred retired from the Norfolk County Respiratory Hospital. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and baking. Winnie was known for her kindness and generosity. She never knew a stranger. She was the Matriarch of a large extended Irish catholic family. She was a devoted family women whose family was the most important focus of her life. Her greatest legacy is her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed entertaining people for tea and all special occasions She leaves behind many people whose lives were touched by her generosity and kindness. Reposed at the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington Street, Braintree until 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, followed by a Funeral Mass at noon in St. Joseph Church, Holbrook. Visiting hours were Wednesday, Feb. 5, 4 - 8 p.m. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
